LET'S RECLAIM OUR STREETS

In response to the observation that the Greening Master Plan objectives could not be realised in many streets because the footpaths are simply too narrow and crowded, this address at the 2013 'Walkable City Living Streets' conference argues that really comprehensive greening in the urban areas must be seen as part of an integrated transport policy that prioritizes pedestrians over private motor vehicles.

The conference was organized in support of the Second United Nations Global Road Safety Week focused on 'pedestrian safety', by Civic Exchange, Community for Road Safety and Designing Hong Kong.
